The North Shore
Nestled between the ocean and mountains on the West Coast of British Columbia lies Vancouver's beautiful North Shore. North and West Vancouver have been a special place to live ever since the Lions Gate Bridge forged a link from downtown in 1938.
The North Shore is known for its wonderful communities, great parks and diverse recreational activities, and top ranked schools. North Vancouver's 12 recreation centres provide everything from swimming lessons to workout facilities. West Vancouver's beautiful new Aquatic Centre is the hub of recreational activity.
In the summer, families enjoy spending days at Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver. The West Vancouver seawall is a favourite year round for joggers and dog walkers. Deep Cove in North Vancouver is a popular spot for kayakers and boaters alike.
The villages in Deep Cove, Edgemont, Ambleside and Dundarave are where you can
meet your friends for coffee, grab a gourmet sandwich for lunch, and spend the afternoon
shopping for everything from shoes to groceries.
The North Shore is home to three stunning mountains, Seymour, Cypress and Grouse. These ski hills are open all day and night from November to April for your skiing pleasure. In the summer, take the famous gondola up to the top of Grouse Mountain and take in the city's lights at the Grouse Nest Restaurant. Whistler, the world class skiing destination, is a scenic 90 minute drive from West Vancouver. Vancouver and Whistler are the hosts for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
North Vancouver's schools are sought after. The teachers and students strive
for the best both in academics and in community involvement. They are consistently
highly ranked on many lists including the Fraser Report. Many schools provide both
English and French Immersion. Collingwood and Mulgrave private schools are located
in West Vancouver.
North and West Vancouver provide the best of both worlds. Their close proximity to downtown, beautiful location and excellent reputation draw people from all over the world to move to THE NORTH SHORE!
